We Record 6 Summary

  • D-503 posits a future time, which the State has not reached yet, where nothing ever happens.
  • Unfortuntaely for him, something happened that day: I-330 calls him up. And he still totally hates her. He hates her some much that he agrees to go to the Ancient House with her: the one place in The State with walls made of something other than glass.
  • They visit. An old woman shows them in. I-330 refers to her as "grandmother" rather than by a number, and confesses that she loves the old woman.
  • They look at various Olde Tyme-y bits of non-mathematical detritus: furniture, musical instruments, a statue of Buddha and the like.
  • I-330's smile makes him think of the X bothering him.
  • She pops out in a dress and stockings, and he claims "it's clear that you want to seem original." (6.42)
  • She laughs and asks him if he wants to stay there with her. She says she knows a doctor who can write him an excuse for missing the Designated Brainwashing Session (or whatever it is they do in those auditoriums).
  • He threatens to turn her over to the Guardians for proper processing. She kind of dares him to.
  • He doesn't take her up on the dare. Instead, he goes to his Auditorium session and indulges in free time, during which time he notably does NOT report her to the Guardians.
