Whether or not you hang onto this job will have a lot to do with how much you love it. If you're a backyard beekeeper selling to a small group of people, you can probably hang on as long as you like. If you work for a big corporation—one that sells honey, beeswax, pollen, royal jelly, and even queens—you'll be as much at the disposal of the guy in charge as most other professional gigs.

Lasting twenty years or more means making yourself indispensable. Beekeepers who keep up to date on what's new in beekeeping and the business of it are the ones most likely to stay flush with free honey until retirement.
