20-Year Prospect
Once upon a time, the people and the government collectively decided that alcohol was enough of a nuisance to warrant its exclusion from the list of legally consumable beverages. At some point, to someone, it probably seemed like a pretty good idea...but in practice, it didn't work out so well. Alcohol was eventually put back on the shelves, and we've never looked back.
Okay, so it's not exactly a fairy tale, but it seems unlikely that the booming brewing industry is going anywhere soon. Brewing craft beer has been an increasingly popular enterprise since the mid-'80s, with more and more breweries popping up year after year (source).
It does mean competition, though. There's no shortage of new breweries opening, but there are also plenty of people looking to get started as grunt-worker-brewers. If the popularity continues, you can count on the already-not-great salaries to get squeezed even a bit thinner. But if that's no problem for your brewing aspirations, then by all means, follow those sudsy dreams—once you're of legal age to drink, of course.
