Fame
Corporate events managers have a certain degree of fame—inside the company, anyway. From your employer to their employees, there are going to be a lot of people who want you to organize their Save the Whatever event.
There are convention halls that have to be filled, caterers who want people to eat their food, and local celebrities who need speaking gigs or performance opportunities. If enough people need you, then there's some fame attached to this (right?).
You'll be working to plan and pull off some of the most memorable events of people's working lives. When they think of the sales team convention in Tucson, they'll think of you. When they picture the head of marketing belting out Springsteen in the absolute wrong key, you'll be the one to thank. That's what we call fame.
