Being great at customer service doesn't give you wings; though it could make you an angel in someone's eyes. (Source)

Being great at your job and connecting with people to help them can make you feel really good about yourself. You may not win any awards like customer service rep of the year, but you could get yourself on the wall at your office as "Employee of the month"...maybe.

Some jobs will give you small salary bumps for a job well done. Others could give you a plaque or certificate for having clients commend your excellent customer service.

You'll also have the opportunity to speak to some very lonely people who might confide their life story in you, even though they only called to get instructions on how to use their new battery operated toothbrush. You can really brighten these people's day by doing something nice for them, like getting their bed delivered to the right address so they have something to sleep on. Or you could just be a sympathetic ear; after all you are being paid a salary to talk to them and listen to their problems.

Sometimes, your job may make you feel just like a therapist, only without the normal paycheck, fancy car, and health benefits.
