Odds of Getting In
So you graduated from the Academy with great scores and proven capabilities; jobs should be out in a storm banging at your door, begging to be let in to the warmth and care of your sweet wildlife-loving embrace, right?
Wrong. Also, eww.
There are a finite number of positions available for conservation officers. Most recent graduates will spend their first few years as actual law enforcement agents while waiting for game positions to open up (kinda like when your favorite MMORPG is having a busy weekend). State lawmakers aren't usually the biggest fans of giving money to environment-related jobs, even those that carry a gun and badge, so many open positions come about due to retirement, transfers, or (hopefully not bear-related) death.
