Odds of Getting In
Your odds aren't great. Basically, any time you're trying to get hired in a management position off the street, you're unlikely to succeed without some extensive prerequisites.
The best thing you can do is stack your odds. The first way to do this is to get everything sewn up on the education end. Go for that master's.
The second way is get some experience.
What you can do is get hired on in a subordinate position. Get experience that way, and make sure your name is in consideration when something opens up. Be ready to move, too. The recycling plant near your home might not be hiring for a manager, but the one two towns over could be. Keep watch on the job listings and let your employer know you're looking to move up in the world.
