Working as the food service manager of your own restaurant means, well, opening your own restaurant. Yet, despite the number of restaurants currently open in the United States (there's about one for every 500 people, in case you were curious), it's actually pretty darn tough for today's untried restaurant entrepreneur to lock down a solid first loan to actually do it (source).
It's really tough to make a restaurant work—a fact that banks know very well. So unless you're thinking about starting with a franchise first, or selling that mint condition 1938 first issue of Action Comics, you're probably going to have a hard time collecting the capital required to buy or lease a building, pick up equipment, and fund a staff.
