For once, even we aren't sure which way this is going to go. On one hand, new technologies are being developed to run the world's industries, homes, and gadgets on alternative fuels. Soon oil companies may be a thing of the past. 

Or, maybe you can steer your company toward these fuels and make them a leader for the foreseeable future. Besides, at the current rate, there's only about another half-century's worth of oil out there to extract anyway (source).

On the other hand, since oil companies already own an incredible amount of resources and use many of those resources to keep it that way, it may already be too late. Humanity may descend into a Mad Max-style free-for-all for oil, where it's every man and woman for themselves across a barren, desolate wasteland. Okay, it probably won't come to that. But you never know.
