- The Enterprise enters the Genesis sector. The Klingons aboard the ship enter cloak mode before Kirk and crew can scan them.
- On the Genesis planet, Saavik is again rudely awaken—this time by Klingons capturing her and Spock. Girl cannot get a break.
- Saavik tries to convince Kruge that Genesis is a failure, but Kruge is actually impressed by how destructive it's turning out. He demands the secrets of the torpedo.
- Kurge is informed of Enterprise's arrival and is beamed aboard the Bird-of-Prey.
