Star Trek III: The Search for Spock Scene 9 Summary

  • Kirk and his crew toast to absent friends.
  • The doorbell rings; Kirk thinks it is a fashionably late Mr. Scott, but the party crasher is revealed to be Sarek, Spock's father.
  • The ambassador demands to speak with Kirk alone, and then lays into him for denying Spock his future.
  • Kirk is confused about the dead-guy-has-a-future thing, but Sarek explains that only his body was dead. Kirk was supposed to bring Spock's spirit, his katra, to Vulcan.
  • Kirk says Spock made no such request.
  • Laying Kirk down by the romantic fire, Sarek *cough* mind-melds with him.
  • He learns Spock truly made no request of Kirk. Sarek laments that everything about his son is now lost.
