Flora and Ulysses Chapter 14 Summary

Squirtel!

  • Flora hears her mom calling from the kitchen and wonders what she's done this time.
  • She also notices the squirrel is orange—like, really orange. Wait, what?
  • Confused, Flora goes downstairs to stop her mom from yelling for her more.
  • Her mom asks her what's the deal with the cheesy mess around her typewriter and the page that reads: "Squirtel! I am. Ulysses. Born anew."
  • How? What? Why? A million questions run through Flora's head, as she realizes that the squirrel must have typed that message. Cue minds being blown.
  • Before Flora has time to explain, her mom is all in a dither—this is her job and Flora's made a huge mess of things, plus she ate a whole bag of cheese puffs.
  • Flora insists she didn't do it, but she starts to feel a little lightheaded, so she mutters an apology; she wants to tell her mom the truth, but she knows it wouldn't do any good.
  • Ding dong. The doorbell rings.
