How do you use Shmoop?

I have only begun to use Shmoop recently, but am so excited for the possibilities that exist for my AP Literature students, my English II Advanced students, and my Real Life 101 students. Allowing students to work through content at their own pace, Shmoop will allow me to create a blended classroom, one that brings us together to discuss common topics or for me to present new material. Students can then work alone to reach a common goal, and I can use student progress and assessments to discern which students need remediation and which need additional challenge in certain areas.

Real life: Ms. Hardy has this teaching thing on lockdown.

What’s your favorite Shmoop product?

The Test Prep and the Essay Lab are invaluable! These will help so many students prepare for assessments in my class and for important tests.

What is the coolest experience you've had using Shmoop?

Learning what all Shmoop can offer was awesome! I had heard of Shmoop and used the videos to introduce content in my English classrooms, but did not fully understand what all Shmoop could do. When my school system was given full access to Shmoop, I attended a training and was blown away. Now, I have all sorts of plans to use Shmoop in my classroom on a daily (and nightly) basis. My students are going to be so excited!

What do you like to do outside of the classroom?

I … love fishing. I can dig bait, bait the hook, take the fish off the hook, dress the fish, cook the fish—and, of course, eat the fish!

Ernest Hemingway would be proud.
