How do you use Shmoop?

Shmoop videos rock—as anticipatory sets, as reviews, as background builders, or as "last 5—minutes, what do I do???" The animation keeps the kids interested, the snark lets me know if they are paying attention (i.e. - do they laugh??), and they are short enough that I can show them 2-3 times if I need to. Shmoop is my go-to resource when I am building a new unit, or updating one for a new group of kids. I have it on my symbaloo as a study resource for students.

If you could take three book characters out to do karaoke, who would you invite and why?

I would take Junior from The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings, and Hester Prynne from The Scarlet Letter.

Quite a group. Why these guys and gal?

Junior because I need someone dorkier than me, Gandalf to throw magic spells on the audience so they won't throw their drinks at me, and Hester because I bet she would be a good time... once she let her hair down.

Everyone needs a dorky friend, a buff (or magical if you have one) friend, and a fun friend.

What random skill are you better at than 95% of the population?

I can eat corn on the cob without getting any stuck in my teeth, and without leaving any on the cob.
