How do you use Shmoop?
As an English teacher, I use Shmoop whenever I need to "front load" some information about aliterary allusion or just introduce the main ideas of a text that we will not read entirely in class. I also like the short clips that summarize basic concepts in a humorous way. I would like to use Shmoop videos as a model form for students to create their own instructional videos that are short, interesting, but jam-packed with information.
Sounds like the Shmoop philosophy in action.
If you could take three book characters out to do karaoke, who would you invite and why?
I would take Holden Caulfield, simply because he needs to get out and have some fun; second, Ignatius J. Reilly because everything he says cracks me up; third, George Hayduke from The Monkey Wrench Gang because something crazy would definitely happen once we closed the joint down.
We should really start planning something for Holden—he's the most nominated for this invitation.
What was the last book that made you laugh out loud?
David Sedaris's Naked. He always cracks me up.
Do you know a Shmooperstar educator who should be featured on Shmoop? Have them apply. Or, you know, nominate yourself.
