Geoffrey of Meron

Character Analysis

When Geoffrey shows up at court in Alanna's second year as a page, Alanna's no longer the newest kid on the block—plus, he has to begin sword training with Sklaw when Alanna does. Alanna says that he would make a good squire for Jonathan, even though she secretly wants that position. They fight in a practice match supervised by Aram, and Alanna actually beats him! He takes it gracefully, saying, "Well fought, Alan!" (6.285). We love a good loser.
