A young page, Sacherell is the first person Alanna has a sword duel with while in training with Sklaw. Even though Sacherell is one of Alanna's friends, in their first duel he "looked like a menacing ogre—a tall, bulky, menacing ogre" (5.191). Yikes! Sacherell predictably goes on to whoop Alanna in the fight, leading her to feel like crap. According to Coram, "He's a bit of a natural" (5.202) so Alanna shouldn't feel too bad about losing to him.
