Following in His Steps
- It's been two months since Haydon P. Nye died, and Billie Jo reports that today, his wife joined him. The official cause of death was dust pneumonia, but Billie Jo suspects that she couldn't live without her husband any longer.
- When Ma died, Billie Jo confesses that she didn't want to live without her either. Now though, things have changed—she realizes that taking life one day at a time can help to ease heartache. She again says, though, that she wants to leave home, and she's saying it more and more frequently. We're starting to think she just might do it.
